C3 9-10 Boys Relay "A"
INDOOR SEASON IN PROGRESS – C3 IN THE BUILDING!
Chester, PA (Jan. 14)– The Camden Clock Chasers were back on the chase at Widener University Saturday, capturing nine first place performances, including seven individual and two relays in various age groups at the UAGTCA Indoor Series. Two athletes had multiple first place finishes: Rai’Ana Rucker in 8 & Under Girls, who took 1st in both the 800M (3:07) and 1500M (6:07); and Karon Brookins, 9-10 Boys, who also doubled up in the 200M (29.06) and as a member of the 9-10 Boys Relay (1.39.77).
Other 1st place individual finishers included: Djassi Dean, 11-12G High Jump who bounded 1.32M; Gianna Holness, 13-14G who commandeered a highly contested 800M finishing in just 2:40.47; and two 1st place shot putters: Elijah Burke 9-10 Boys & Surrayah Daaliya 13-14 Girls launching the shot 5.14m and 10.23m respectively.
Two relay teams also finished first their age division. Both 9-10 and 11-12 Boys Relay squads claimed the top spots at the Widener meet. The 9-10 Team consisting of: Jabari Sonnebeyatta, Karon Brookins, Karon Ali & Rafiq Heigler dusted off the track for age groups after them with four clean handoffs and an exciting finish of 1:39.77. The 11-12 Relay of Jayden Farmer, Elijah Jennings, Mike Washington and Amari Burke were also on the right track bettering their time as a group finishing in an intense 1:35.03.
In addition to first places, twelve C3 athletes achieved personal records throughout the day with a total of 21 event finishes resulting in a Clock Chaser placing 6th place or better overall. In total, 28 athletes either ran, jumped or threw their way to recognition at the meet. Coach Ray Rucker summed it up best, “I’m proud of the performances so far and we are not yet at the season mid-point… [I’m] excited for what can still be accomplished during indoor.” Here is a list of all the top 6 finishers:

And the excitement will continue to build as the Clock Chasers look to improve on their performances and challenge themselves and their teammates to raise the bar both mentally and physically. The next few weeks will be focused on a commitment to training as the next meet is not until February 11th.
